In addition to awesome new animals and pop-up exhibits, this colossal play area showcases beautiful, living, growing coral reef exhibits. Enjoy colorful displays of live coral, along with beloved reef residents, including Shrimp Fish, Clownfish and a dazzling Ribbon Eel.

Wander down Frog Alley to check out a striking array of new and returning frog species!  Plus, KidZone also features a beautiful and bizarre collection of new and returning animal species, including wierdly adorable Axolotl Salamanders, bright and colorful Discus and literally hundreds of Cardinal Tetra fish, amazing Upside Down Jellyfish and weird and wonderful Cuttlefish, a must-see.

Well here we are…we made it! The KidZone official ribbon cutting is happening in a little under 2 hours today.  And guess who gets to cut the ribbon?! None other than yours truly *blush* I can’t wait to get my fins on that giant pair of scissors! But on to updates! Who attended the VIP party this weekend? Annual Passholders got to chill with me and walk the red carpet in style as they got a special sneak peek of KidZone. Everyone had a blast hanging out with me and my buds Shelldon, Bobbi and Lizzie. Well come on…how can you not have fun when you’re wearing shades and posing on the red carpet?! Plus there are lots of fun things happening this Spring Break at Adventure Aquarium, including some special appearances (and not just from the Gillster – yes…I just referred to myself in the 3rd person…).  The folks at the Aquarium will be making a special announcement today on Facebook, so be sure to like them so that you can find out before ANYONE ELSE.

There’s so much to see and do and play and touch you literally HAVE to come check it out! But in the meantime (and if you’re like me…you just can’t wait…), you can peruse my latest gallery of images.

Meet the Dwarf Cuttlefish, a new species to Adventure Aquarium, and now an official resident of KidZone.

Cuttlefish are Cephalopods (which also includes squid and octopuses), making it the second cephalopod exhibited at Adventure Aquarium – after our Giant Pacific Octopus of course!

Here are some super cool facts about one of KidZone’s newest creatures:

• Cuttlefish are sometimes referred to as the “chameleon of the sea” because of their remarkable ability to rapidly alter their skin color at will.
• Cuttlefish and other cephalopods use color to communicate warnings, mood changes, courtship displays or for camouflage.
• Cuttlefish have unusually colored blue-green blood. The blood is pumped by three hearts – yipes.
• Acrobats! They’re often seen walking on their arms and fins instead of swimming.
• They are typically light brown or greenish yellow-brown, covered in small white spots and blotches.
• Cuttlefish are from the Indo Pacific region, which includes the Phillipines, Borneo, Indonesia, Northern Australia.
• Their diet typically includes small fish and invertebrates.
