Meet Gill!

26 Jan

Gill is a typical kid, energetic, playful and curious about the ocean world that surrounds him. He isn’t the biggest shark in the sea, but he’s got big dreams, so he knows one day he’ll be the top fish on the food chain.

Gill’s biggest idol and role model is his dad, who works as an ambassador to the human world, circling the globe and stopping at seaports to share his vast knowledge and fearless spirit with adventurers everywhere. Gill’s mom has had plenty of adventures of her own, but now prefers to stay closer to home, where she can work on perfecting her quirky (but very tasty) sushi recipes.

Gill spends a lot of his time snooping around the reef with his ever-present camera always at the ready, taking on the role of a “Private Fish-Eye” – uncovering the facts about fishy characters in the neighborhood. Even when he’s not “working” as an amateur detective, Gill’s the kind of kid who asks a million questions a day. He has so much energy, though, that he won’t always hang around long enough to hear the answer.

Gill likes to take a “fins on” approach to learning. Instead of studying, he likes to explore, eagerly swimming off to distant grottoes, shipwrecks and reefs to search for artifacts from ancient undersea civilizations. Whenever he gets in trouble, which is often, he manages to charm his way out of a tight spot with his earnest manner and boundless energy.

Meet Shelldon!

3 Jan

Shelldon is Gill’s best friend. He’s a young, slightly quirky sea turtle with a bright green shell and four flippers that he uses to swim with speed and agility.

Shelldon has followed his family on long migrations across the globe, so he is well traveled. He has a keen sense of direction and always knows the right way to go. He relies on his trusty
compass to keep the AquaPals on course.

Shelldon is super-smart and can occasionally act like a “know-it-all.” In fact, one day when Lizzie called him a nerd, he smiled and said “Thank you.” There is one subject that Shelldon worries about: girls! He often frets about whether or not girls will like him, in spite of the fact that two of his closest friends, Bobbi and Lizzie, are girls. Shelldon tries to impress them with his endless supply of riddles and puns. (“Why do we turtles swim this way? Because that’s how our folks tortoise!”) It may take a while to reach the punch line, and when he does, his friends often groan. But deep down they love Shelldon’s silly sense of humor.

Meet Lizzie

3 Jan

Lizzie is a Nile hippopotamus, who lives with her family pod at the mouth of the river that empties into the ocean where Gill lives.

Lizzie loves to sing and spends most of her time making music with her family pod. In fact, she and her sisters have formed a girl group named Harmony, in which Lizzie is the lead singer. Lizzie coordinates costumes for the group, creating a wardrobe with bright colors and plenty of sparkle.

Lizzie has a keen sense for fashion, and is always seen wearing her favorite flower behind her ear. On her most recent birthday, Lizzie received a brand new iPond as a gift. She uses it to listen to her favorite songs, and to record Harmony practice sessions. When she isn’t singing with her family, she eagerly chats with her friends on her smart phone, downloads music from the “inter-wet”, or sends out “chirps” to her bird friends on “Flitter.” She knows practically everybody, and has the longest friend list on all of Fish-book. She loves to blog about “the girls” in her pod, and she regularly posts her own music videos. She actually met Gill when he gave her latest song a “fins up” rating on “Blue Tube.”

Meet Bobbi the Penguin

28 Dec

Bobbi is an energetic, athletic penguin who lives with her family on a rocky peninsula near an ocean where Gill lives. Her full name is Roberta Wingsworth Wadleigh, but she prefers to go by Bobbi, knowing her full name sounds very stuffy.

Bobbi has always been very active, and excels at school sports. On land, she has learned to waddle faster than any of her classmates, and in the water, she can swoop and glide better than any other bird she knows. She only wishes her wings worked as well in the air. She has also mastered the arts of surfing and water-skiing and is captain of her school volleyball team. Bobbi believes in “Teamwork with a capital T.” Even though she’s the youngest member of the group, she knows how to motivate others, and she is great at encouraging her teammates.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we bring you more information about Bobbi!
